Not every fracture is simple. Injuries involving joints, multiple fragments, open wounds, the pelvis or previous surgery can be more complex and may need careful planning.

Situations that often benefit from specialist input

  • Fractures that extend into a joint
  • Fractures that have not healed (non-union) or healed in a poor position
  • Infection after fracture surgery
  • Injuries from road traffic accidents with several fractures

If you have had a recent injury and need urgent attention, go to the nearest emergency department. For follow-up questions, bring X-rays, CT scans, operation notes and discharge summaries.
